China's cotton exports in July fell 19.23 percent year-on-year

According to customs statistics, China imported 155,800 tons of cotton in July 2014, up by 10.89 percent month-on-month. The increase was 18.6 percentage points higher than the previous month and 25.41 percentage points lower than the same period last year. The decrease was 21.34% year-on-year, 18.02 percentage points higher than the previous month and 66.86 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Exports of cotton yarn were 35,000 tons, down 3.05 percent month-on-month, down 4.88 percentage points from the previous month and up 16.47 percentage points from the same period last year. The decrease was 19.23 percent year-on-year, 13.72 percentage points higher than the previous month and 75.36 percentage points higher than the same period last year.
In 2013-14 (2013.9-2014.7), China imported 1.8751 million tons of cotton yarn, an increase of 134.9 million tons compared with the same period last year, an increase of 7.75% compared with the same period last year, and the growth was reduced by 42.07 percentage points compared with the same period last year. Total exports of cotton yarn were 440,200 tons, down about 23,000 tons from the same period last year, down 4.96 percent from the same period last year, down 35.76 percent from the same period last year.
By July 2014, China had imported 1,143,000 tons of cotton yarn, down 1.72% year on year. A total of 273,200 tons of cotton yarn were exported, a year-on-year decrease of 10.77 percent.
